Sermon Bumpers
The Master Craftsman
This project came from our creative team meeting discussing our series “May Your Kingdom Come”. The sermons were on the beatitudes and were about how God is taking old things and making them new. We had the idea of showing a carpenter working with reclaimed wood. This project has about 3 week of preproduction in it prior to filming. From location scouting , script writing, and VoiceOver recording, to the actual project we were to create and how to get “dummy” props in to film the creation of a jewelry box by hand in just a few hours as opposed to a week that it actually took. The tone of this bumper series turned out amazing.
Ruth
This bumper is from our series on “Ruth”. It is a video that actually took just two afternoon in the fall. I think that the success of this video is due to the filming the outside elements during a great sunset on a greenway. The joke we told each other during the viewing of this was anything in slow motion with the right music and Voice Over will turn out about this good. It is in the process of being submitted for sale by the production office on a sermon bumper site.
Vision Sunday
Vision Sunday is the annual business meeting discussing what has transpired over the last year and looking forward to our plans for the next year. This is a service that ends up being 3 to 4 video elements to help support the service. It is a packed full service that takes cooperation with the communications department, production department, and each campus as a simulcast service. The service tone was set off with the video we called “The Refiners Fire” conveying the fire we as a church went through during the pandemic and how God was faithful and how we came through it.
In aligning with that them our Neighborhood Care Center was a driving force in our community. We interviewed people from the town mayor to the school system liaison to the community. The average attender of the church had little knowledge of the daily work that happened through our church. This was the video to tell that story.
Seek CONFERENCE
I volunteered for our denominational team to put on their young adult conference. My responsibilities were the stream and video, if it moved on a screen, it was my job. In the lead up and prep for the conference I created this trailer to promote ticket sales. The theme of the Conference was “Run Your Race” so I grabbed one of my friends and we broke into the track and filmed some things with an outfit he found at the thrift store.
Christmas
Christmas Eve services are the largest services that happen at Grace Covenant. We did a sermon series titled “Fear Not”. The elements in this bumper were created in conjunction with our graphic designer and created in house. Every element of this video was created in camera along with our photo shoot for the graphics as well.
Easter
This bumper was for our Easter series titled “Victory!”. It was created in conjunction with the graphic designer and was shot as practically as possible. Our Graphic designer (my wife) loves to make things as practically as possible. Between Easter and Good Friday we took an old newsies theme of declaring the good news of Jesus Christ. Our graphic designer created each article and printed them out as we distressed them and created all these graphical elements practically on an overhead rig.
